Custers Last Stand 54mm Andrea Miniatures

I decided to take a break from painting to again photograph some of my older painted stuff.

This is 2 of Andrea Miniatures kits joined to make a decent representation of the well known Last stand, Heroic or stupid? We all have our own opinions.

I painted this a couple of years back but it always had a sheen to it when photographing it. So I gave it a quick spray with the Army painters anti-shine varnish, as recommended by Dave Imrie. I would also now highly recommend this spray varnish to people as I have tried almost every matt varnish on the market, I dont do shiny figures!

Anyhow I hope you like it and any comments welcome, thanks for looking

Artizan Mexican Infantry 28mm

Well hello again to anyone that has a look at my blog.

The Painters block has now gone and I am back to painting! The fact that I booked to go to Salute this year was the only thing that got me painting again, I always need a deadline or one almighty kick up the back end!

I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza for the weekend and hopefully have a couple of figures to enter into the Painting competition done by then.

The figures shown are Artizan Mexican Infantry that I painted about 3 or 4 years ago, I did intend to do more and obviously Crocket and the boys but you all know what our projects end up like!

Anyone fancying a blether whilst at Salute about painting figures etc please let me know?

Rackham Ogre Musician 32mm

Its been a while since my last post, mainly because I have painters block!
I have done nothing since before going on holiday, even going to Targe 2010 in Kirriemuir did not fire up the juices, so here is a figure I painted a couple of years back to fill in the gap.
The figure is an Ogre Musician from Rackham models, a multipart 28mm, nearer 32mm figure.

So back to the painters block that I have, Im sure everyone gets it? Anyhow I just need a new project to fire me up, so if anyone knows of some nice figures out there that I have not seen, then please let me know?

As you can see from my Blog I paint most subjects, sometimes a change is as good as rest, so any subject matter would be considered.

Thanks for looking.

79th Cameron Highlander Indian Mutiny 28mm

Well here we go as promised my first attempt at tartan.

This is a 28mm Mutineer miniatures model sculpted by Mike Owen.

It took a bit of investigating but this again is hopefully historically correct to depict an Officer of the 79th Cameron Highlanders in India.

Any comments welcome and please take part in the Poll I have running, thanks.

Salute 09 Zulu War diorama 28mm

Well hello all again, thats me back from the sunny Isle of Tenerife after 2 weeks of sunshine and I am already chomping at the bit to get a project on the go.
Until then I am posting this picture of an older subject I have done.
Its a 28mm Zulu war Diorama from Salute 2009, its not the best sculpt I have worked on but I have painted worse.
I did enter this in the Salute competition last year and I think I got a 3rd, being beaten by 2 other entries which in my opinion were not as good as mine. { I am bias to my own stuff}. You can take a look and make up your own minds.
Again, thanks for looking and any opinions are welcome.
I am still trying to get the hang of taking pictures of my miniatures.

Gordons Last Stand 28mm Perry Minis

This is one of my latest projects, its a 28mm Perry Miniatures representation of General Gordons Last stand. Its copied from a painting by George William Joy and quite accurately done.
I did alter this slightly by putting a spear in Gordons chest as happened in the film starring Charlton Heston, not sure whether painting shows this or some kind of salute by him? Anyhow here it is, an enjoyable piece to work on and finish.
I am working on some Mutineer miniatures Highland infantry fromn the Indian Mutiny. This is my first time doing tartan and not an easy one, will post pictures when finished.
Thanks for looking and comments.

Front Rank Officer 2nd Cuirassiers 28mm

Here we have something for the Napoleonic fans. Its an officer of the 2nd Cuirassiers from Front Rank miniatures in 28mm.
I am still working on the photography of these miniatures and not 100% happy with them yet.
Remember and place a vote in my Poll if you have not done already.
Thanks for looking.
