Salute 2012 London booked

Hello again, I am now booked to go to Salute 2012 in London at the Excel Centre.
So the motivation needed to get painting is now here, as I intend to enter a couple of items into the Painting competition.  The picture is a hint to one of the pieces I am doing, its quite big and will be entered into the Wargames Other category.  There are no prizes for guessing the theme.
It is well under way and looking quite good in my opinion, I did intend to do a walkthrough W.I.P. type thing but would rather just get on with it.
I will be staying with my son at the Crowne Plaza Docklands from Friday night til Sunday afternoon, so anyone going who wants to have a chat about our hobby and or a couple of drinks, please let me know?  I am always keen on talking or listening about painting, figures etc.

Wargames Foundry 40mm Confederates Reb Infantry Singles

Here we go again with the start of a new year, I hope you all had a good one and hope Santa was good to you all also?
I am not into the painting mood yet so decided to take some pictures of my older figures.
I have been asked by a couple of people for close ups of the 40mm Wargames Foundry Rebel Infantry, so thought I would do these and post them.  These again are painted with Foundry paint, but would say my style of painting has changed slightly since these were done, hopefully for the better.

Rackham Mercenary Ogre Limited Edition Confrontation 32mm

Hello again, I hope you all had a good Xmas and will have an even better New Year.

As for this figure its a change away from historical, but might still interest some of you?
The figure is from Rackham and represents a Mercenary Ogre, I picked this one up at the Claymore bring and buy stall and liked it mainly because of the Elephant head, which I think looks great.
As for building it and painting it, it was not an easy task, as you can probably tell. There are quite a few bits and bobs on the model and very nicely detailed.

I am back on the historical trail again and will be posting some new stuff soon.

Drabant Miniatures 40mm Mounted British Officer 1701

Hello again to one and all.
A change of period again and manufacturer but still a 40mm figure.
This is a mounted British officer from 1701 by Drabant miniatures.  These are lovely sculpted models but not the cheapest, I managed to pick this one up on Ebay, as you do. Only problem with it was that the stirrups and straps were missing as well as pistols and holders, so out with greenstuff and paper clips and new ones were sculpted by myself.
End result is comparable to originals so I am happy with outcome.
I am now running out of space in my display cabinets so it might be time to have a clearout of my painted figures.  I might make an effort in the New Year to Ebay some of my older figures and make space for newer ones.
Anyone reading this who fancies making an offer for any of the figures on my blog, please do let me know, as they must go to a good home.

Mexican Spy company 40mm Vignette Gringo40s

Here at last are the 40mm Mexican Spy Company figures based and as a vignette.  I did think of different options to base them but ended up with this, which I think works okay.

Geronimo 54mm Apache Warrior Indian

Well here we go for another post after a break for going on holiday.  I have painted a few more figures but not got back to the 40mm Old Glory Sioux, always got easily distracted written on my report card at school, you all know what its like?
Anyhow this is a lovely but tricky model to build as its made of  brittle resin, it has several pins in it and a few camouflaged breaks, but I am happy with result.
The model is of an Apache Warrior in 54mm from a Polish company called MModels, I decided to base him on Geronimo (Mescalero-Chiricahua: Goyaałé [kòjàːɬɛ́] "one who yawns"; June 16, 1829 – February 17, 1909) was a prominent Native American leader of the Chiricahua Apache who fought against Mexico and the United States for their expansion into Apache tribal lands for several decades during the Apache Wars. Allegedly, "Geronimo" was the name given to him during a Mexican incident. His Chiricahua name is often rendered as Goyathlay or Goyahkla^[2][3] in English.
I entered this model at Targe 2011 in Kirriemuir and won best single figure with it.

Redoubt Enterprises 28mm Turkish Kettle drummer Rennaissance

Hello again to whoever takes time to look at my work and thank you.
Here is a change from the O.G. Sioux I have been painting, its a Turkish Kettle Drummer from Redoubt Enterprise miniatures in 28mm.
I picked up this figure 2nd hand for a £1 at the Falkirk wargames show from Phil Olley, new its £5, not sure if its worth that?
Anyhow the Camel is spot on and a really nice sculpt the Turkish rider is a bit stiff and not the best but does a job.
I painted this reasonably quickly and will be getting back to the 40mm O.G. Sioux as soon as I am back from Gran Canaria.  So anyone waiting to see more Injuns will have to wait a couple of weeks.
